Will Kindles be on sale during October Prime Day? Heres what we know.

With the arrival of new Kindles right before Prime Big Deal Days, you might be wondering if Amazon's e-readers will be on sale during October Prime Day. Kindles will be on sale, but probably just the 2024 devices.

Amazon has quite the timing. Right before its October Prime Day event, the retailer dropped a completely redesigned Kindle lineup. But what does this mean for Kindle deals during Prime Big Deal Days?

Historically, Amazon is conservative with its e-reader savings, waiting until the sale starts to drop prices. The best prices on Kindles either fall on Prime Day or Black Friday, so we're hopeful for the savings that Prime Big Deal Days brings. We don't doubt that Kindles will be on sale; it's a question of which ones.

I highly doubt that the new, 2026 Kindles will get a markdown during Prime Big Deal Days, as some of the devices are still only available for preorder. However, 2024 Kindle models will definitely go on sale, and I hope we see them return to their previous all-time lows.

In August 2026, all Kindles received a price increase thanks to the ongoing memory crisis, which makes an imminent sale all the more important. On our Kindle deals wish list, we hope to see the 2024 basic Kindle return to its all-time low of $79.99 and the 2024 Paperwhite fall to $124.99. However, we haven't had a sale since the Kindle price hikes, so we don't know if that will affect sale prices (though we imagine it will).

For now, Amazon has marked down prices on 2024 models in bundles. If you're eager to buy, you can save up to $130 already. But our advice? Hold out until Amazon's October Prime Day starts on Oct. 6 to shop for Kindles.
