If there's one thing we can always guarantee it's that Amazon devices will get the biggest discounts during the retailer's major sales events. And such is the case for Kindles during the Big Spring Sale (which runs through March 31). If you've had your eye on a Kindle, but didn't want to pay full price, now's a great time to grab one.
As of March 28, the basic Kindle is down to just $94.99 at Amazon during the Big Spring Sale. That's about $15 cheaper than usual and the best price we've seen since post-holiday season sales. Kindles do not see discounts very often, so this is likely the cheapest you'll find it until Prime Day in June.
The smallest and most affordable in Amazon's e-reader lineup, the basic Kindle is an excellent device I own this exact model in the matcha shade and am constantly recommending it to everyone I know. At only six inches, it's comfortable enough for one-handed reading and can easily slip into a purse. Though 16GB of storage may not sound like much, it's surprisingly enough to hold thousands of books. And if you ever come close to filling it up, you can simply offload books to make more space. It'll also last you up to six glorious weeks of reading before you even need to charge it.
While it's not waterproof like the Kindle Paperwhite, Mashable's resident e-reader expert's favorite, it does have the same screen resolution and adjustable front light. The display also looks just like paper has that same dose of magic that somehow makes you read incredibly fast. Just make sure if you read at the beach or in the bathtub you're extra cautious.
If you're in the market for an e-reader and don't want to spend over $100, I highly recommend grabbing the basic Kindle while it's down to just $95.
